BDG attended a breakfast seminar hosted by RI Taskforce geared towards small business input on the health insurance rate debate. The presentation explained to business owners like BDG what the 2016 changes to small group healthcare will be and how this will affect our decision making on healthcare for employees moving forward. What was interesting was the discussion led by panelists – RI Health Commissioner and Health Source RI how this change in group size not only affects small businesses, but how it affects the economy on a larger scale. For example small business owners unable to pay potentially (likely) higher premiums impacting full time vs. part time employment decisions or not hiring. Hmmm. How many small business (under 100) are located in Rhode Island?
Understandably a complex issue that BDG plans to stay involved with by attending future task force meetings including the June 22nd meeting discussing the Rate Review. For all you small businesses out there check out – www.ritaskforce.com
