handsBuilding Client Base – As a small and young design firm in the field of Landscape Architecture, Birchwood Design Groups goal is to grow our business through building relationships and promoting our skill set.  We felt the best way to do this was the face to face contact of actually meeting those with whom we wanted to work with.  It may not be the most innovative approach but we argue that it is extremely relevant given the challenging circumstance of starting a business in a recession.

computer-science-1024x683Systems – From the onset of our establishment, we set out to develop systems that allow us to beproductive no matter where we are.  We built our business platform on cloud based computing.  This gave us the ultimate flexibility in having access on multiple devices.  Along with the ease of access to information, we have also found that this provides ultimate flexibility as a team to work from any location and still feel connected.  In 2013, we look to continue to expand our flexibility as we continue to test the grounds and look for solutions that improve our delivery to our client.  Real time design and graphic communication has become a reality in our business and our ability to visually convey ideas instantly can really help with time and budgets.   We continue to pursue and develop techniques and solutions utilizing software advances in 3-D modeling programs and graphics programs to help illustrate our ideas.

researchThe Big Picture – As to the core of our business, we encourage advanced thought in designthrough research and science to develop solutions that create spaces that are enlightened, exciting and timeless.   We constantly strive to integrate social, cultural and environmental stewardship into all of our projects.  This is accomplished through holistic investigation into how a project will heal into its surroundings including buildings, adjacent land use, topography, utilities, infrastructure and landscape.  This thorough investigation lets us see the range of possibilities and allows us to provide thoughtful solutions that meet our client’s budgets, respect the environment and meet the needs of end user.  When this all comes together we get excited about our work and the product is exemplified this philosophy.
