At the end of week 2 and still going strong. Feeling more and more comfortable with riding the bus. I have ridden all hours of the day. Each time I ride the bus at different hours it is a new adventure with different people from all walks of life. Meetings and networking events have kept me out late but, the bus has always been there. With all that said, I have run into a few snags the past week. Late morning buses have led to missed transfers and an extra 15 minutes at Kennedy Plaza. My first bout with rain and of course I was completely unprepared. If you are considering riding the bus I would get a nice compact umbrella and a rain coat. Kennedy plaza does not provide sufficient cover and if you are not prepared you will get wet.
Last week there was an O-zone alert day and the bus was completely free. If you are thinking of a dry run then this is the day to do it. It is great if you have to just move around the city. The only thing that you should be aware of is the buses are packed, which is a good thing.
Lastly, I mentioned in my last blog to do your research before riding the bus as it is not an easy system. I saw one young gentleman get on the express and end up at Lincoln Mall when he was trying to get from Kennedy Plaza to Broadway. Tough, at that point he had no idea what to do. Luckily, there are several nice people who were able to guide him on his way.
Used the truck once this week.
Expenses: $89.50, still have not used zipcar. It is on my list.
Filled up my truck once and have moved into the savings category. Had a slight snag though, a month long bus pass is for the month it is in (ie. August, September) not for a month long of rides. Wish they had told me when I bought the pass.
